Rocket Relay Seminar 2!

Rocket Relay Seminar(s) 2!

Well the seminar is only 2 weeks away, and it's time for an update... We hope that you are all as excited as we are!

Schedule

We have produced a schedule that includes information on the timetable for the day, directions to the venue and some more general information.

Last seminar, we sorted both the audit slots and the working slots into two lanes, one with each trainer - this information was released with the schedule. We will be doing this again, but this information will be released next week when we have finalised the working dogs (this is due to people dropping out due to injured dogs). Early indications show that we have managed to keep all team members together and worked it so that there is a fairly even split of box types across the lanes. There will be lists on the day of the seminar to remind you which lanes you are in and you will be given plenty of warning and time to warm your dog up before they run.

For those that did not attend last time, if you have a working dog, you will have chance to see the other dogs work. As a brief indication of what happened last time, when the dog in front of you on the list started their session, we will tell you to go and get your dog ready. Generally people would then warm their dog up and wait at the bottom of the pavillion for their turn. You are free to leave the building at any time to let your dogs out etc. Audit slots will also get chance to be involved in the afternoon sessions by helping with props, boxloading if necessary, releasing dogs and asking questions. It's just a case of getting stuck in there, but on the flip-side if you just want to sit and watch then you are quite welcome to do this too.

We'd ask that you all please pay particular attention to the section of the schedule with regard to seating arrangements. Alongside this, we'd like to once again thank everyone that has contributed to the seminar so far, and for those who have offered help on the day.

Boxes

As it says on the schedule, for those with working dogs we need to know whether you will be bringing your own box. To get the most out of the sessions, it is best if your dog runs on the box that they are used to, however if there is a problem bringing your box down then we can hopefully provide a couple.

Most of this should already be organised. If you haven't heard from Katie Burns about this, then please contact us. Thanks again to Katie for sorting out the box logistics for us!

Private Lessons

Kelly & Aaron are pleased to be able to offer private lessons for Saturday evening. These sessions will last as long as the dog will work for and in our experience this is around 15-20minutes, they tend to work on boxwork, drive and stridework - you will be given the chance to discuss what you would like to work on with the trainers. Those coming Sunday are also welcome to apply for these sessions. If you are interested in a private lesson, then please email Kristian (kristian@flyballfever.co.uk).

Food

As we said on the initial entry form, we will be providing light refreshments on the day during the break and during lunchtime. This will include tea/coffee/hotchocolate as well as a variety of cold drinks, alongside this we will also have lots of biscuits, cakes and crisps. We won't however be providing any full meals or hot food, so we strongly recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you. For those of you that fancy going out over lunch, there is a McDonalds less than one mile away as well as a variety of similar restaurants.

Other

We provide chairs, but please be aware that Newark is notoriously cold! Please do wrap up warm!

Many people found it useful to bring a notebook and pen with them, although we do have a few notebooks in case anyone has forgotten theirs.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions!

Looking forward to seeing you all in 2 weeks!
